Criminal Summary Offences

In Ontario, paralegals are authorized by the Law Society Act to represent clients in a summary conviction court under the Criminal Code (Canada). A summary conviction is described as a less serious offence punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 or a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months or both.
