Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board

In Ontario, most residential leasing issues are governed by the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) and heard before the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB). The RTA sets out the responsibility and right of landlords and tenants. Every party is entitled to seek remedies by filing an application to the LTB.

Before you decide to file an eviction application or about your right, you need to make sure that your residential tenancy is covered by the RTA. For example, if the tenant share kitchen and bathroom with the landlord, the tenancy is exemption from the RTA.
